Le dejeuner sur l'herbe (study), 1865
This version, now in Moscow, is a smaller study for the painting Monet hoped
to conquer the Salon with, and gives an idea of what the finished work was to have looked like.
This was probably a preliminary study done in the Fountainbleau woods and later for
used for the painting proper in the studio.
