In the visual arts, the terms "Realism" refers to a style of depiction which is close to reality. Objective reality is critically reproduced, and in the process the chief features of the reality so depicted - proportions, three dimensional aspects, colour distance, light - are retained. Thus the representation of reality is linked to its interpretation.
